WHAT YOU’LL FIND

Inspired by our new JOY PERPETUAL COLLECTION, this issue shimmers with twinkly lights and glints of gold throughout. As with our new line, a touch of gold in just the right places tells you something special is happening. You will see it in the magical streets of Vienna, in our design features, and even in our recipe section. The winter season is the perfect time to add a little sparkle to the world around us.

VISITING VIENNA

WP vienna

This charming capital city is worth a visit any time of the year, but even more so in winter. Here you will find music, art, museums, fine dining, parks, and top-notch shopping. Check out our guide for what to eat and see and where to stay. Then discover the many winter events in the city, which last well beyond the holiday season.

Of course, a trip to Vienna during the holiday season is a magical feast for the eyes. The streets, parks, and public spaces come to life with thousands of twinkling lights. Take part in some of the many holiday events or just stroll and take it all in.

FESTIVE TABLE

WP dessert

Seasonal Living Magazine always tries to bring you recipes that are “in season” or inspired by the season. For this winter edition, we turned to two of our favorite ingredients, chocolate and coffee. The classic combination is great for winter recipes and evokes that warm, cozy feeling we all seek during the colder months.

Our opera cake recipe is as delicious as it is visually appealing. As a holiday baking project, this recipe takes a bit longer than many others, but the result is well worth the effort. Your guests will be amazed at your kitchen skills. Topped with decorations brushed in edible gold, the finished cake looks as if it came from a fine pastry shop.

To celebrate the season, we created a cocktail with Viennese flair. Our Viennese Coffee Cocktail is similar to an espresso martini. However, Viennese coffee means the presence of cream and chocolate. This cocktail is meant to be a dessert cocktail. It is creamy and delightful with just the right kick.

NYE AROUND THE WORLD

SLM winter 22 new years eve traditions

New Year’s Eve is celebrated with different (and sometimes slightly strange) traditions around the globe. We have compiled a list of countries and their common NYE customs. You’ll be surprised at some of them, for sure. Next, we give you a few easy ways to incorporate some of the customs into your own holiday festivities. Grab your empty suitcase and yellow underwear and meet us on page 15.

HOME-MAM HOW TO

SLM winter 22 hammam basics

Need a little relaxation and self-care this season? To rejuvenate your body and mind, we offer the history of hammams (Turkish baths). This ancient practice has been around for centuries and it is gaining popularity for its therapeutic qualities. And just in case you don’t have access to a hammam in your area, we have included step-by-step instructions for how to re-create your own Turkish bath experience at home.

MARVELOUS MOUNTAIN HOMES

WP dittmar

This issue of Seasonal Living Magazine features two design projects that you are going to love. They are distinctly different in style and rich in design aesthetics. Both located in Colorado, one is decidedly more modern while the other is more rustic.

Kristin Dittmar of Aspen, CO creates a modern mountain home with a focus on family. See how she brings light and fun into the lower, below-grade level with clever lighting and finishes. Her method of layering textures results in a modern, cozy home.

In Breckenridge, Collective Design and their sister company, Pinnacle Mountain Homes, create a rustic mountain retreat of 6500 square feet. Despite its size, the home feels warm and cozy due to the incredible amount of reclaimed wood. The wood, paired with stone, brick, and steel, creates a backdrop for custom design features and unique wall finishes.

IN SEARCH OF JOY

JOY lifestyle woods feature
Design by Lauren Ashley Design

Our travels this year and reconnections with suppliers were priceless. These precious moments gave us pause to reflect on what is the most important and look for JOY in the smallest of things. This idea led to the creation of our new line, JOY PERPETUAL COLLECTION. The line features the signature lightweight concrete of our PERPETUAL COLLECTION, but with an elevated twist. Many pieces include a subtle, gold lacquer accent that has been hand-applied. The result is something raw yet refined… simple and sublime. As with the rest of our PERPETUAL COLLECTION, these versatile pieces are built to last and can joyfully live indoors or outdoors. You can see some of the new pieces on page 24 of our new issue. For even more information, check out our new product brochure HERE.

UNTIL NEXT TIME…

We hope you will find JOY in this latest issue of Seasonal Living magazine. It is our pleasure to present you with this sparkly edition.

If you have questions or comments about this issue or the magazine in general, please contact us at editor@seasonalliving.com. If you are a designer and would like to be featured in a future edition, please contact us at the same email address for consideration. While we can’t use every project that is submitted, every submission is carefully considered.

We look forward to sharing our spring edition with you in just a few months. For now, we hope you will be inspired, make some recipes, and celebrate the season.

Happy New Year.
